Holla Hump Day

This week's shout out goes to the lovely voice I am listening to on repeat…

Birdy

Her cover of "Fire and Rain" is just different enough to be brilliant. And "Just a Game" from The Hunger Games is at the top of my list for her as well.

However, if I have to pick a favorite, I simply can't get enough of People Help The People…

"and if you're homesick give me your hand and I'll hold it"

My admiration for singer/songwriters probably comes from a deep-seated place of daydreaming about being one my entire life. Adele, Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Sarah McLachlan, Patty Griffin, Bonnie Raitt….I could seriously go on and on. They are the first women, besides my mom, that I believed to be  the loveliest of women.

Therefore, I'm completely obsessed with the powerfully talented singer/songwriters that are popping up these days. What I want to point out is that these ladies are so very young in an industry that has the potential to eat them alive. They are writing songs that are relevant to the masses while staying true to their age and what's happening to them in the moments of being a teenager. To them I say, well done. Birdy tops the list for me right now.

As always, let's hear your shout outs! Are there any lovely singers/songwriters you have on repeat right now?

Happy Hump Day!

    1. I haven't ever tried! I feel like my minimal piano skills would make it hard :-)
