Holla Hump Day

This week's (rather the past few weeks) shout outs go to...

...The Bloggess, Mrs. Jenny Lawson. Just when I started feeling like a crazy person I started reading her book, Let's Pretend This Never Happened.

Nothing makes you feel more normal than surrounding yourself with someone else's crazy.

I'm only on chapter 14 of 48, and I can't seem to figure out how I feel about it all. I haven't read much of her blog, but suddenly decided to read her book. She's witty, entertaining, and incredibly vulgar...which all equal good reading in my world.

I also recently finished The Wolf of Wall Street for my super awesome book club. I can't speak about it much until after book club happens. However, I'm pretty sure if Jordan's Belfort's crazy got in a fight with Jenny Lawson's crazy Jenny would win. I will do a book round up post soon as I have actually finished a few others as well!

...my mother. She has scooped me up, dusted me off, and held my hand quite a lot lately. In the world of lovely mothers/women/friends she is the loveliest.

...the people on the beach, in the Kroger parking lot, at numerous playgrounds, and anywhere else Evie has had a tantrum recently for not assuming I am torturing my child and subsequently taking her from me. Her perfect set of lungs may land her on a stage someday. Or, maybe she will actually provide the screams for horror movies. Either way it's a gift people. I feel like I need to get a shirt made for her that says something like, "Today it's a tantrum scream, tomorrow it's my golden ticket". Swimming in silver linings over here.

...Lila. Her determination and sheer joy for new experiences never ceases to amaze me. She dives in with such focused excitement I find myself wishing I could be more like her. She came off the tennis court after her first group lesson yesterday just beaming. She asked me if we could come back every day while complaining that she couldn't stop "dripping". I kept telling her it's called sweating, but she finds dripping to be much more indicative of what's happening to her. I also love that she picks out those socks and wears them like that without any prompting from anyone.

...Evie for reminding me to slow down as much as possible. These days she is attached to me at all times. We went kayaking while at the beach and she literally sat all snuggled up behind me the whole hour we were on the water. Sure, she may have been a little uneasy about the kayak. That part doesn't matter. What matters is that she won't want or need me to be that close for forever.

Happy hump day lovelies!

  1. YOU, my child, are the loveliest. Get Evie the shirt and allow her to cling to you as long as she will. Let Lila drip and pick out her own socks for as long as she wants!! You're the best. Don't ever doubt that!! I love you.

Just started reading your blog the other day. Love it!

PS-you might be onto something with that shirt idea!
