This week's shout outs go to…
…all of the teachers out there. I helped out with a staff holiday luncheon at Lila's school today, and I saw the all too familiar look in many eyes. There is a look and a feeling that spreads quickly after December first when the holiday break is so close you can almost feel yourself sleeping in and not grading papers. Teachers work so very hard. Enjoy your time off before the next half begins. You deserve it!
…all of the parents as well who are willing and able to help out at their kid's school. This is lame because I'm sort of patting myself on the back…but not that much. All I did today was cart sour cream and shredded cheese to the school for the baked potato bar. Other parents who stay at home or have permitting work schedules spend an exorbitant amount of time at their child's school. I know this doesn't happen everywhere, but it should. Parents should want to do big things for teachers. The parents who do, be it with their time or their money, deserve a big hug.
…for the intensity that is a massive part of each of my children in very different ways. Evie has recently decided that to be heard she must speak so loudly that she overshadows everyone else. It reminds me of how really ignorant people speak to someone from another country who may not speak the native language. She stares at the other person talking while screaming over them. It cracks me up. And Lila's need for affection never ceases to amaze me. Sometimes she gets so up in my face to hug me or snuggle with me that we bonk heads. She doesn't find this in the least bit weird. I don't have the heart to tell her that most people don't injure each other when cuddling.
That's all I've got today. I do want to reiterate that online shopping is a mom's dream come true. That's what I'm doing. I will finish buying gifts by the end of the week if I have to stay up late every night doing it!
Happy Hump Day Lovelies!
